About Yorkshire Woollybacks

After many years of raising and showing horses with some success, our focus has shifted to sheep. Although we still have a few horses grazing happily, the sheep have evolved into a passion.  Expanding on my enthusiasm for knitting, I learned to spin, which I find very relaxing.  We now export fleeces to the USA, Canada, Europe and the UK.

YORKSHIRE WOOLLYBACKS is a smallholding compiled of 3 flocks of sheep. 

• Hambletonmawe Ryeland Flock (white)

  are a white fleeced, docile and easily managed breed.  Ryelands produce a very soft springy fleece and have a wonderful tender flavoured meat.

• Kilburn Coloured Ryeland Flock (natural coloured)

  These Ryelands are just like the white, but with a wonderful fleece colour variety from dark brown to silver grey.

• Whitehorse Fibre Flock

  A wonderful growing collection of rare breed sheep providing more variety of colour and fibre possibilities to fall in love with.  At present, this mixed flock consists of: Romney, Kent Halfbred White and Coloured, Llanwenog, Shetland, Corriedale White and Coloured, and Corriedale X Manx. Also available are Wensleydale White and Black, Teeswater, Bleu du Maine, Torwen (Welsh Badger Face), Portland, Manx Loghtan, Plus many more.
